SCOOT FOR THE MOON Segway GT2

-

Not all vehicles are just about getting from A to B. Nobody buys a Pagani because of how practical they are, or a Lamborghini because of all the luggage space. These are vehicles designed for the pure pleasure of driving, not doing the weekly big shop. Segway’s GT2 is the electric scooter equivalent of a hypercar – but one that’s so gnarly you can’t even ride it on public roads.

Powered by a pair of 1500W motors, it’ll reach 30mph in just four seconds and hit a top speed of 43.5mph. To put that in context, the e-scooter speed limit in the UK is 15.5mph. To help it cope with that power it has disc brakes and front and rear dual-arm suspension, with adjustable hydraulic damping so you can take it off-road without turning your legs into jelly. In fact, the only jelly you’ll find is a layer inside the 11in tubeless tyres that lowers the risk of punctures.

All that oomph needs some serious energy, so the GT2 comes with a 1512Wh battery that’ll keep it going for around 55 miles. Considering it weighs 52.6kg that’s just as well, because you definitely wouldn’t want to carry it home.
