HEART FULL OF POLE

- £N/A / polestar.com

Ooh, yes please! How much? Sorry, this is a concept EV and looks set to stay that way for now. It’s got two doors and four seats along with a retractable hardtop roof; the fact that it’s a concept means there’s no word on powertrain or more general technical specifications. But what we do know is that the Polestar O2 is very nice to look at.

So where does the roof go?

It folds away – and as the O2 is a hardtop convertible, you get the best of both worlds. The 2+2 cabin design and squat, dynamic look are embellished by some dazzling design flourishes too, like the wraparound taillights, striking airducts… and those ‘statement’ wheels.

And inside the cabin?

The luscious interior is crafted from recycled materials, including reborn polyester for the comfy bits. And it uses mono-materials rather than mixed, for easier recycling when your O2 finally reaches the end of the road.

Hold on a sec, is that… a drone?

It is. The O2 comes with its own autonomous drone, launched from the rear of the car via a 15in touchscreen on the dash. It can even be launched while the car is being driven, with any turbulence or take-off challenges minimised thanks to a tail-end spoiler design that diffuses the air around it.

Amazing! But, er, why?

Good question. The thinking is that the drone can film you and your passengers from above, so you get pro-quality video of your drive. It’s been designed to handle different scenarios as well – so if you’re heading out into the sticks it’ll capture dreamy countryside backdrops, just like those car adverts on TV.
