DEATH OF THE DISH
Sky already put one nail in the coffin of the satellite dish when it launched Sky Glass last year, but the future now looks even bleaker for the old-skool tech: you’ll soon be able to receive the full Sky experience over the internet without having to fork out for a new TV.
Later this year, subscribers will be able to use the multiroom puck that goes with Sky Glass as a standalone streaming box. This will allow access to all the usual live channels and on-demand stuff (including the Ultra HD bits and apps for Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+ and more) but without having to screw a big hunk of metal to the outside of your gaff or change your telly. It’ll also come with a voice-control remote.
There’s no word on pricing or exact availability yet, but satellite dishes all over the country will be hoping it doesn’t come too soon.
