JEDI MIND BRICKS
Lego Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder
Until now, Lego’s Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series has mostly focused on swoopy spaceships and stompy Imperial transport. But this latest release goes big with a smaller-scale vehicle.
The Lego Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder nets you a brick-built take on his battered X-34, to assemble from a massive 1890 pieces. It even comes with two entertainingly out-of-scale Luke and C-3PO minifigs – ideal for recording your guaranteed Youtube crossover hit Honey, I Shrunk A New Hope.
It’s designed primarily for display, rather than play, which means you get a natty black brick-built stand and plenty of details to gawp at. You can pore over blocky takes on the Landspeeder’s two-seater cockpit, which includes a gearstick and detailed dashboard display, plus its repulsorlift engine, thrust turbines and curved windshield.
For added authenticity it includes Luke’s scrap parts, while the port turbine is missing its cover and there’s visible damage to the nose. Well, you can’t expect things to stay pristine when you’re sharing the desert roads with Tusken Raiders.
