WTF IS LG PURICARE AERO FURNITURE?

-

It’s a robot mushroom from the future!

It’s not – but sticking one in your house could help stop any fungus becoming part of your own future. While most air purifiers look like mesh routers or electric heaters, LG’S latest resembles a piece of hi-tech furniture. Available in red, yellow or grey and with either a circular top or the flat-edged variant pictured above, it has three filters built into the base for battling airborne nasties: one ultra-fine filtration, one for collecting dust, and one for deodorising. It also uses Uvnano technology, seen already inside the case of LG’S Tone Free earphones, to kill bacteria on the fan blades beneath the flat tabletop.

So it still functions as a table?

Yep, and LG’S blurb helpfully describes what tables are for, just in case you weren’t sure. Apparently they provide “a useful place for storing household items or displaying decorative objects”, so don’t try to fry an egg or sleep on it. What you certainly can do, though, is charge your phone on it: there’s a wireless charger built into the top, which can charge an iphone at 7.5W or compatible Android phones at 9-10W. There’s also a set of lights up there to show air quality, airflow strength and Wi-fi connectivity.

Hang on, it has Wi-fi too?

Of course it does! You can’t release a table without Wi-fi in 2022. How else would you install firmware updates? It also lets you control the built-in mood lighting via LG’S Thinq app, with eight different colours to choose from, or you can use the buttons underneath – which also let you manage the airflow modes. There’s no pricing or availability info yet, but the fact that it’s called Aero Furniture means we’re hoping there might be non-table additions to LG’S Puricare Objet Collection on the way. Well, why stop with a table when you could have an air-purifying armchair too?
