Honda Miimo 3000 Live

-

What’s the story?

Top of Honda’s robotic range, this machine has a huge mowing area and is packed with clever tech. Its 3G/4G SIM card enables remote monitoring from anywhere via an app (Android or IOS), while

GPS tracking lets you view its location and create a geofenced operating area to protect against theft. In a large garden, you can even use GPS to set mowing zones.

Max gradient is 27% and the mowing area is a huge 4000m2 – basically an acre. This is a genuine alternative to a ride-on mower.

The asking price includes a charging dock that sits at the edge of the lawn, plus perimeter wire and pegs. You can set this up yourself, or budget extra for dealer installation.

If an acre sounds like a lot, it is – but the Honda mows for 90 minutes at a time, recharges for 45 then heads back out. Sensors detect bumps (objects, pets, people) and stop the blades automatically. Grass clippings are mulched to feed the lawn.

Smaller smart Miimos use real-time weather data to avoid mowing in heavy rain. This one doesn’t need that, because it’s designed to mow in all weathers.

Is it any good?

Mowing and edge-trimming are excellent, and it’s a real luxury to adjust everything from indoors via the app rather than hunching over the control panel. You can command it from anywhere in the world, but a seat by the window lets you enjoy its near-instant responsiveness.

You can start or stop a mow at any time, choose from eight cutting heights, check status and edit schedules (weekly, monthly or seasonal). Plus you can add Miimo as an Alexa skill for simple voice commands.
