‘I’ve mixed up prints for A vibrant look’

Crafty touches, clever shopping and a passion for pattern helped Stylist at Home Susannah, 42, decorate her colourful family home

his house is quite different from our previous place, which was an older property with original features such as fireplaces, cornicing and tiles,’ says Susannah. ‘it was a beautiful home, but it had a small garden and the location wasn’t convenient, so i was keen to move somewhere nearer the children’s school and with more outside space.

I looked at quite a few properties. Some had been renovated but weren’t to my taste, whereas this one hadn’t been touched for a long time. It had a goodsized garden and lovely big windows that

Tlet in a lot of light. There were no period features either, so it was a blank canvas, meaning, I could start from scratch.

Getting going

I always knew I’d make major changes to the ground floor. The original layout was traditiona­l, with glazed doors dividing the living room and dining area, and a small separate kitchen. I didn’t particular­ly need a large space for cooking, but I liked the idea of a more family-friendly downstairs space for our kids, Dewi and Gwennan.
