To-do list A few things to try this month... Post your Christmas Cards

Beat the festive rush and ensure your gifts and greetings arrive in time by heading to royalmail.com to check the last recommended posting dates. Tuesday 20 December is the last day for 2nd Class and Signed For services in the UK, but we recommend getting your post out as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

refresh your guest room

If your home’s going to be full to the brim this season, guarantee that guests have a comfortable stay by sprucing up your spare room. Stow away any accumulated junk, and clear out some drawer space so visitors can unpack. Add a few extra cosy throws and furry cushions to ensure that everyone under your roof is snug as a bug.

Clean the oven

It’s one of the most loathed household chores, but if your oven is coated in cremated crumbs, it could affect the taste of your turkey. If commercial oven cleaners aren’t getting rid of stubborn grease and grime marks, sprinkle a layer of bicarbonate of soda on your trays or oven surface, then spray with vinegar. Leave the mixture to soak (overnight ideally), then scrub with a non-abrasive sponge to remove stubborn burnt-on stains.
