1 Create the frame of your display unit by joining together a series of shallow storage boxes (try the plywood range in a variety of shapes from Hobbycraft) using strong glue, or use a wooden cutlery or drawer organiser. 2 Paint each section of your joined boxes in different shades. For a rustic effect, use a dry brush to layer colours on top of each other. Leave to dry. 3 Gather together the collectables you’d like to display. Lucci and Gary chose personal items such as toy cars, old tools, rope and parlour games like darts, dominoes and playing cards. Place the frame in front of you and arrange your items, securing them if needs be.
