Do it! Space-saving Solutions

-

1 Try to allow some space for shelving in an island for storing recipe books and cookware. A built-in wine rack is another great idea – Betsy adapted hers to fit larger bottles of drinks.

2 If you’re planning an extension and wall space is likely to be limited, consider installing skylights. These are also a good idea if your extension will look out onto a dark space at the side of the house.

3 Building appliances into the cabinetry creates a seamless look and eliminates wasted space above or below. Fit them at eye level for easy access when taking things in and out of the oven.

4 If you don’t have enough room for a dining table, think about going for a bigger island so you can use part of it as a breakfast bar.
