INDUSTRIAL-STYLE SUSPENDED SHELVING

1 Use a ready-made shelf (check out Ikea or B&M for affordable options) or cut a piece of wood to size, then paint or stain in your chosen colour.

2 Attach four large screw hooks securely into the ceiling joists. Use a stud finder to locate the joist or knock the ceiling and listen for a solid sound. Measure carefully and mark four holes for screw eyes on your shelf to line up with the screw hooks in the ceiling.

3 Attach four lengths of cable wire or a link chain between the screw hooks and screw eyes. With cable wire, you can create an end loop with a wire clamp. Make sure each length is identical for a level shelf. Hang your shelf in position.
