BLACKBERRY AND APPLE CRUMBLE

TAKES 40 MINS SERVES 6

FOR THE CRUMBLE TOPPING

60g plain flour 30g plain wholemeal flour 75g caster sugar 60g unsalted butter, chilled and cubed 60g ground almonds 60g jumbo oats FOR THE FILLING 750g cooking apples, peeled, quartered and cored 75g caster sugar Juice of 1 lemon

500g blackberri­es custard, to serve YOU WILL NEED 1.75ltr ovenproof dish

1 Heat the oven to 190C/gas 5. For the topping, combine the flours and sugar in a bowl. Rub the butter into the mixture until it forms crumbs. Stir in the ground almonds and oats.

2 Put the apples in a pan with the sugar and lemon juice. Heat for 5 mins, to just soften.

3 Tip the apples into the dish. Add the blackberri­es.

4 Top with the crumble mixture. Bake for 25 mins until the top is golden brown.

5 Warm the custard and serve poured over the crumble.
