UPCYCLE A CONSOLE TABLE

1 Give the unit a deep clean, including any drawers. Leave the drawers out.

2 Remove handles or mask around any that won’t come off. Lightly sand surfaces to remove imperfections. If there are cracks, fill with a suitable filler and then sand lightly again.

3 Apply a primer (go for waterproof if the item is intended for a bathroom), then wait to dry and if necessary, apply a second coat.

4 Using a brush, apply at least two coats of paint. Ensure you’re using the right product and finish for your item. Gloss will look more modern, matt or eggshell more traditional.

5 If there are drawers, prime and paint them. Once dry, reattach handles and slide drawers back into the console.
