FIND THE IDEAL DARK PAINT

Is your room south facing? These spaces tend to get a lot of natural sunlight beaming through the windows so don’t be afraid to go as dark as possible – in fact, you can probably go one shade darker than you think you need!

If you’ve got a north-facing room, don’t despair. Embrace the limited amount of natural light you’ll have in this space and choose dark, rich tones for a cosy, cocooning effect.

Remember that testers are your friends and can save you making costly mistakes further down the line. Apply your favourite colours in different parts of the room so you can see how the paintwork looks as the light moves around.
