ABOUT ME I’m Calsey Banks, a personal assistant, and I live here with my partner Michael Figures, an electrician.

MY HOME A three-bedroom 1950s semi in Great Barr, Birmingham. We bought the house in August 2018.

WHEN WE MOVED IN Most people couldn’t see beyond the terrible decor and illogical floor plan, but I knew all that it needed was a little thought and some TLC.

AND NOW We’ve moved walls around to create cosy rooms and decorated with a smart monochrome palette accessorised with houseplants and abstract art.

STYLE TIP Don’t rush! It’s good to have an end date to work towards, but make sure it’s a realistic one that doesn’t come before the needs of your renovation.
