ABOUT ME I’m Zaya Gilchrist, 48, a designer-maker (@kelmi_craft) and maths and English tutor. I live here with my son Felix, 12, and our border collie/labradoodle cross, Izzy.

MY HOME A four-bedroom Edwardian terrace in Falmouth, Cornwall, bought in May 2013.

WHEN WE MOVED IN It was in good order but not my style. One bathroom had a peach corner bath and the kitchen was painted turquoise and dark grey.

AND NOW I took up the carpets and painted most things white. I redid the kitchen and bathrooms and added a wood burner.

STYLE TIP Buy from charity shops. It reduces waste by saving things from landfill, it’s cheaper, you get unique items – and you’re supporting a good cause.
