Make it! GET ORGANISED WITH A PEGBOARD

Pegboards can be used in every room of the home and have so many uses, from hanging kitchen utensils and organising craft supplies to displaying jewellery or creating a gift-wrapping station.

The great things about pegboards are that you can fix them together to get the perfect size for your space, paint them to suit your decor, or even frame them, then add a multitude of hooks, shelves, wire baskets and hangers to create a display.

Special pegboard hooks feature small barbs on either side to keep the hook in place. You can also hang items from small dowels pushed into individual holes, or run a long piece of dowel between two hooks.

In the kitchen, a pegboard attached to the inside of a cupboard door can give you extra hanging space for utensils, or use to line the bottom of a drawer and add wooden dowels to create a nifty plate divider.

keys in May 2020. Luckily there was a crossover period where we still had both properties. This meant we could start painting over the magnolia walls and get flooring laid downstairs before we moved in. The house had been built six months prior, so we didn’t have to wait for it to settle. Michael’s dad has a flooring shop, Star Carpets in Hinckley, so everything came from there. The carpets for upstairs took a while longer due to low stock, so we lived with bright purple underlay for a few weeks!

Going from a two-bedroom to a four-bedroom house was a great opportunit­y to buy new furniture and replace things I wasn’t keen on, like our old bed. Most of our previous living room furniture is in the snug now, as we wanted to buy new sofas and furniture for the main living room at the rear.

Colour choices

While we were waiting to move in, I created mood boards for each room on Google Slides. Pink and green are the threads that run through the house, except in the living room. In here I used Cornforth White – a deeper, warmer grey by Farrow & Ball – which adds to the cosiness and allows the new navy sofas from Next to pop.
