DIY WHEAT SUN

-

Get your materials together. You will need a wooden circle made out of single plywood, size is dependent on how large you want your sun to be, but 10in is a good start; and a pack of dried wheat, both available from Hobbycraft, Amazon, ebay or Etsy; a glue gun and glue sticks; scissors; sandpaper; command strips.

Cut your circle in half using a small hacksaw, then lightly sand around all the edges.

Cut your wheat into two different lengths; this is a matter of taste, so try with a couple of spare fronds to see how large you want your sun. Superglue your wheat onto the back of the curved edge of the half circle, alternating between the long and the short fronds, and let dry. Depending on how much wheat you have used and how heavy the final decoration is, stick one or two Command strips onto the back of the sun and attach to your wall.

For a more colourful version, after step two, paint one side of the circle and allow to dry, and then decorate with dyed wheat or colourful dried flowers.
