SUMMER SALAD

Sow mixed salad leaf seeds into containers of compost in mid-may to ensure you have trugs of healthy baby salad leaves to hand for the next few months. The aim is to get baby leaves you can cut regularly, so sow seeds around a finger’s width apart – tighter than you would if growing full-size plants. Try spinach and rocket and any cut-and-come-again leaf mixes. Keep sowing seeds every couple of weeks.
