Living room looking a bit tired? We’ve got some great ideas to give your home a brand new look

-

1 Add an accent colour the easy way

Transform your colour scheme by choosing a strong accent colour for soft furnishings and accessories. This white living room idea welcomes a splash of pink and yellow, giving it added warmth and a more contemporary edge at the same time. Intentional bursts of the same colour lift the restful colour palette to give the whole decor a new direction.

‘Neutral colour schemes are fairly timeless, but adding a pop of colour by changing up artwork, accessories, cushions and throws will be in vogue in 2022,’ says Jenny Allan, founder of Jenny Allan Design. ‘Buttercup yellow or cobalt blue adds interest to any room.’

4 Get creative with paint

Wooden panelling is a top trend right now, but rather than painting it in one colour, why not give it a lift by creating a half and half painted wall? This panelled wall has been painted in two colours, a coffee shade, Brave Ground, at the bottom and a pale blue,

Faded Sky, on the upper part, both by Dulux. With two soothing neutrals, there is just enough colour to make it interesting without being overpowering. It’s the perfect look for a living room. Paint the door and door frame in a matching shade to tie the look together.
