Do it! BUILD A PLAYHOUSE BUNK BED

-

This is a fun weekend project preferably for an experienced DIYER.

Sketch out a plan of your bunk bed, with measurements to ensure it will fit your space – if you’re including a floor for a bed, make sure there’s enough room for a child’s mattress.

Use timber and battens to build the frame. Leave large holes for the windows and doors.

Create the roof using shingles – Ashley and Chris used 100mm cedar roof shingles.

Clad the walls for a real ‘house’ effect – the Bradshaws used 12mm MDF cut in 100mm strips.

Paint your playhouse. Ashley colour-matched Farrow & Ball’s Skimming Stone and Setting Plaster colours at the Valspar counter.

lunchtime and enjoying a big Christmas dinner.

As for decorating, the house comes alive with lots of green foliage and traditional decor. Some might say I go over the top, but I don’t think you can really go too far at Christmas! We always pick our Christmas tree on the first weekend in December – it’s one of our traditions, along with ice skating on Christmas Eve.

We love to decorate the outside just as much as the inside, and there’s nothing better than cosy days at home with the Christmas tree lights twinkling.’ ‘The dressing area keeps our bedroom wardrobe-free and neat’
