Choose plants grown as locally as possible so they are kept in the right light conditions. Buy early and you’ll have a much better chance of settling your poinsettia into its new home. If you need to transport your plant home, make sure it doesn’t get chilled en route. Ideally, stand poinsettias on windowsills (south-facing is best) during the day and bring them into the room at night. Feed diluted houseplant food once a fortnight through winter.
