Babs carries on partying with the rich and famous

- By Kat Hopps

DAME Barbara Windsor was all smiles on a night out on Friday night as she attended a glitzy Christmas party despite battling Alzheimer’s disease.

The Carry On actress, 81, made a beaming return to the limelight with husband Scott Mitchell, signing autographs as she left the London event.

It was in May this year that the former EastEnders star revealed she is suffering from the disease.

Scott, 55, decided to go public with Dame Barbara’s illness, four years after her

2014 diagnosis.

Babs and Scott partied alongside some of the biggest names in showbusiness and politics at the bash hosted by Russian newspaper owner Evgeny Lebedev.

Among the host of stars were actresses Anna Friel and Elizabeth Hurley, model Alexa Chung and pop star Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field.

Also there were actor Sir

Ian McKellen, and rock legend Sir Rod Stewart with his wife Penny Lancaster.

Barbara has kept a low profile in recent months but she did surprise theatre-goers last month when she attended the show 42nd Street at the Theatre Royal and did a little tap dancing.

EastEnders colleague Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale, revealed on the This Morning sofa on Monday that she received a standing ovation from the audience.
