Cold feet over Nesbitt’s window
COUNCIL chiefs have taken a dim view of TV actor James Nesbitt’s luxurious new home.
Nesbitt is embroiled in a dispute with planners over the home on Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast.
The star of TV dramas including Cold Feet and The Missing fell foul of the local authority after installing a firstfloor window which overlooks a neighbouring property.
His property development company Nesbro has nearly finished building the plush pad in Portrush, on County Antrim’s north coast near the Giant’s Causeway, complete with a firstfloor balcony and window.
But with updated plans submitted earlier this year being rejected by the council at Causeway Coast last week, the offending window may now have to be removed.
The development has been dogged by problems since plans were first submitted in October 2016 by London-based Nesbro, of which the actor. 53, is co-director.
It was rejected by the council after neighbours expressed concerns over a bedroom window overlooking their property.
Designs were redrawn to remove the window and the application was resubmitted and approved in September last year. However, when updated plans were submitted earlier this year they included a firstfloor balcony with the offending window back in the frame.
This has resulted in planning permission for the entire building being removed despite it being almost complete.
The council has acknowledged it should have made the window removal a formal condition. The omission allowed the developer to revert to the previous approval and carry out an alteration when the building was in an advanced state. It also said the overlook was direct, intrusive and unacceptable.
Mr Nesbitt and Nesbro were not available for comment.
