George’s lover still lives in star’s home

- By Ruth Hughes

TWO years after the death of pop icon George Michael his former lover Fadi Fawaz is still living at the star’s £5million London home.

Fadi was at George’s three-bedroom house in Regent’s Park this week, despite being ordered to leave the property by the Wham! star’s family in May.

George died at one of his other homes in Oxfordshire on Christmas Day 2016. Fadi,

42, who found the star’s body, revealed he was “lying peacefully in bed”. George had died of heart and liver disease.

Since then Fadi has lived at the star’s north London mansion and has reportedly been refusing to leave. He was told in May that he would not inherit the home in the exclusive area.

The property is still registered in George’s name. When the Sunday Express spoke to Fadi on Thursday at the house, he refused to answer questions about why he was still living there, saying only: “I’m still here, I’m living at the house.”

He added: “All is well and I hope you have a good Christmas.” Last year it was revealed he was given a £250,000 living allowance by George’s family, and spent some of it on a trip to Australia. The pair began a romance in 2011, but at the time of George’s death, at 53, Fadi was sleeping in his car, raising speculation they had split up.

The Regent’s Park property is one of three UK homes the singer owned. The riverside estate in Goring, Oxfordshire, where he died, is worth £5million. He also owned an £11million home in Highgate, north London, and a £2.5million pad in Los Angeles. George was believed to be worth about £105million when he died. Representatives for his estate failed to respond to requests for a comment.

It has also emerged that there is still no permanent memorial on the superstar’s grave at historic Highgate Cemetery in north London.

His family have kept private their plans for any markings on the star’s grave. It remains hidden from view and excluded from the official walking tour of the cemetery. One visitor said: “He needs to be remembered with a memorial that befits the icon he is.”

George shot to fame in pop duo Wham! in the 1980s. He went on to enjoy huge success as a solo artist but fought drug addiction for years prior to his death.
