It’s seven up for Wolves

Wolves 2 Bournemouth 0 John Wragg

WOLVES rode their luck as they moved up to seventh in the table – a point behind Manchester United – after their best run of top-flight form in nearly 40 years.

A Charlie Daniels mistake – he played a dreadful back pass that eventually led to Raul Jimenez tapping home – and a late Ivan Cavaleiro goal gave them their third successive league win.

They’ve not been as good as this since 1980 in the First Division, back when Bournemouth were a struggling little club hardly anyone took notice of and Wolves had

John Richards banging in goals.

“I am very proud for the boys,” said Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo. “Together we are trying to create something special here at the club in the most difficult competition in the world – but we are not looking at the table.”

Bournemouth deserved at least a point – Junior Stanislas smacking a free kick against the crossbar in the second-half – and Wolves rarely had control.

But they are on a run of one victory in seven games and boss Eddie Howe said: “We have made a bad mistake for the first goal but we have controlled the match.

“I didn’t see a team there that was lacking in identity. We have our way of playing. I will always back us to come good eventually.

“We are kicking ourselves with the goals that we conceded.

“You don’t like losing and the players have done so well historically when we have been out of form – and that will hopefully be the case again.”
