We don’t bother, say to endless muggings

mugged by a masked attacker. Our revelation comes as the violent crime epidemic that rocked Britain through 2018 has continued into the new year.

Last Tuesday, Jaden Moodie, 14, was knocked off his moped and knifed to death in Leyton, east London, becoming one of the capital’s youngest stabbing victims.

We revealed in October how the period after school finished had become the peak time for stabbings, with trauma surgeons across the country reporting a worrying rise in admissions for knife wounds during that time.

On Friday a 17-year-old was left with “life-changing” injuries after being repeatedly stabbed at Edmonton Green bus station.

The robberies are happening up and down the country. Two Bedfordshire schools sent similar warnings to parents in November.

Cardinal Newman Catholic School in Luton told of two robberies that took place after school last Monday.

The letter said: “It has been reported to the school that two of our Year 11 students were mugged at knifepoint on the way home from school.

“Both students had phones, watches and money stolen.

“Can parents please ask students to walk in groups possible.”

The same month Icknield High School, also in Luton, reported that four pupils had been robbed of their mobile phones by a gang.

In one case outside Southgate Tube station in north London a group of boys aged 13 to 15 were seen having their pockets searched during a robbery on a Sunday afternoon, but police had to issue a media appeal for them to come forward to make statements.

A Met Police spokesman said: “The main focus of the letter was how seriously police treat robbery offences and the need for anyone who had been the victim to contact police as soon as possible.” if at all
