Cornet on Watford’s radar

WATFORD are ready to make a club record £25million offer to land Lyon’s highly-rated winger Maxwel Cornet.

Hornets boss Javi Gracia is keen to build on a good start to the season by strengthening his squad during this transfer window.

The Ivorian winger (left) has caught the eye for Lyon this season and caused Premier League champions Manchester City plenty of problems in the Champions League.

Lyon don’t want to lose Cornet, who is under contract until 2021, but cannot compete with the wages that the Hornets will be able to offer him.

Lyon youth system, is frustrated at what he sees as a lack of playing time, making only 12 appearances this season. The Hornets are ready to guarantee him more regular games in the Premier League in a bid to get the deal across the line.
