AGUT TELLS MURRAY: I’LL SHOW NO MERCY

- Neil McLeman Melbourne

OBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT has vowed not to go easy on Andy Murray in what could be an emotional final match for the Scot tomorrow. what could be my last match,”

Murray said. “I know most likely I’m going to lose in the first round here.

“It’s going to be uncomfortable because if it is my last match, I want to try and enjoy it and enjoy the whole experience, which is maybe something during my career that I’ve not done.”

Murray admitted he would find it difficult to stop playing the game.

He said: “I love tennis. I’d been in pain for quite a long time but was managing it and was able to play, so I was thinking ‘If my hip gets better and improves I’ll be able to go back to competing’. But it didn’t get to that point.” Meanwhile, Andy’s brother Jamie brought some cheer to his family by winning his 23rd career men’s doubles title at the Sydney International with Bruno Soares.

Jamie and Brazilian Soares defeated top seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-4 6-3.

And Jamie’s fellow Brit Harriet Dart, 22, claimed it will be “pretty cool” to play Maria Sharapova in the first round.

The British No4, who came through qualifying, said: “Sharapova has been my idol since I was little – I looked up to her when I was growing up.”
