The one where the stars’ aeroplane loses a tyre...

- Mike Parker

FRIENDS co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox were last night said to be “still shaken” after a terrifying three-hour mid-air drama. Their private Gulfstream Aerospace IV jet was forced to make an emergency landing after losing a wheel taking off from Los Angeles Airport.

It happened at the start of a “surprise trip” with 10 other female guests to celebrate Aniston’s 50th birthday last week.

They were flying out for a long weekend at a hotel and spa in the resort city of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Their pilot got as far as Mexican air space before turning back. He then circled for two hours to burn off fuel before landing at Ontario Airport – about 60 miles from LA. Aniston and Cox, 54, who were on hit TV show Friends in the 1990s, were told to stay on the jet for two further hours as a “safety measure” along with guests, including screenwriter Molly Kimmel, wife of late night TV chat host Jimmy Kimmel. A friend of Cox said: “All the passengers were shaken. Jen and Court still are. I think everyone finally emerged from that cabin with white knuckles. “Just the words ‘emergency landing’ are enough to terrify most people but the pilot kept them fully updated.” Another source said: “They all kept calm during what could have turned into a real crisis and said how cool and stoic their pilot was.” The group later flew on another plane to Mexico.
