Tom targets England recall
TOM HEATON hasn’t heard a peep from England boss Gareth Southgate – but he’ll let his actions speak louder than words.
The Burnley keeper has battled back from injury and uncertainty about his Turf Moor future to reclaim the No1 shirt from
Joe Hart. Now he is gunning for England first-choice Jordan Pickford ahead of next month’s European Championship qualifiers.
Heaton, 32, has just three caps but is desperate for more. He said: “I had quite a long time out with the injury. Then I got fit again and wasn’t in the team which was frustrating. “But the fire never stopped burning. When Burnley signed a new keeper it was a concern. “Gareth hasn’t been in touch but hopefully I will be getting back involved again. That’s the level I want to play at.”
