CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: LIVERPOOL v B MUNICH ROBERTSON’S RIDING HIGH

Kop geared up for challenge

- By Chris Hatherall

NDREW ROBERTSON believes reaching the Champions League Final last year has convinced Liverpool’s stars they can cope with the pressure of this season’s title bid. as a surprise to Scotsman Robertson. But after Liverpool fought back with a stylish victory over Bournemouth last week he has no doubts they have what it takes to stay in the race – at home and abroad.

“I think it is going to go right to the wire in the league. City are a fantastic team, we know that. I’m sure they think we are a good team, too. There are a lot of big games to come and I think it will go to the last week of the season. So, we just keep ticking the games off and trying to win them.”

Being out of the FA Cup has given Liverpool a small advantage, too.

The Reds had no fifth-round match this weekend after being knocked out by Wolves – which should keep them fresh for Bayern as they bid to wipe out memories of last season’s 3-1 final defeat against Real Madrid.

But full-back Robertson isn’t celebrating. He said: “I’d rather still be in the FA Cup. We want to win every trophy we’re in – and we’ve lost two opportunities now because we’ve lost in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

“We are still in the Champions League and the Premier League – and they are the main ones people will say matter most. But it still hurts.

“We’ve used the break properly for training. But I don’t think it’s an advantage. We know how tough it is going to be so we have to be ready.”
