Zola: Squad as gutsy as my Cup winners

- By Tom Hopkinson

GIANFRANCO ZOLA says the Chelsea squad has as much character as the one he played in which twice lifted the FA Cup.

The assistant boss (below) won the trophy in 1997 and 2000 alongside Franck Leboeuf, Mark Hughes, Marcel Desailly, Gus Poyet and Dennis

Wise. He admits it’s unlikely those two teams would have ended last Sunday’s 6-0 defeat by Manchester City with 11 men on the pitch but he is certain it doesn’t mean they had more about them. Chelsea face Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round tomorrow and Zola said: “We all felt that defeat and Thursday against Malmo (a 2-1 Europa League win) was a good reaction. Like in my times, they don’t like losing. If you ask me if this group doesn’t care, I don’t believe that. They care.”
