Henderson hails spirit of champs at Liverpool

JORDAN HENDERSON puts Liverpool’s success story this season down to one word – attitude.

That’s the characteristic which has defined the Reds’ high-power performances as they take a huge step closer to ending their wait for the title.

Neither Henderson nor his fellow Kopites need reminding that few of them were born when Liverpool were last crowned kings of England in 1990.

But now Liverpool could leapfrog Manchester City and return to the Premier League summit if they avoid defeat against Manchester United this afternoon.

And that will be achieved by the attitude – which Henderson mentions time and time again – being dead right in what he describes as the “danger zone” of Old Trafford.

Liverpool weren’t at their dynamic best in the Champions League draw against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night but four days back on the training ground have focused minds on United – and on top spot.

Skipper Henderson, 28, has a growing feeling that 2019 is the year when Liverpool will finally put the record straight and silence everyone who doubts the rebirth of their title hopes under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Henderson (above) said: “Every game is the biggest game for us. They are all massive, so we recover well and prepare well for United, which is another big game.

“They are coming thick and fast but we’re ready for them.

“The game against Bayern Munich was one of high intensity, as it should be against top players. “And it will probably be similar on Sunday. It will be intense there. It will be tough and we need to be ready for that. They have danger all over the pitch.

“We need to make sure we are ready and give everything. And if we have the right attitude I am confident we will get something.”
