Proctor: Axe this bogus guest list of shame

- By Jon Austin CRIME EDITOR

A FORMER Tory MP named in Carl Beech’s fake paedophile ring says a “guest list” naming him as visiting a house at the centre of the smears is still online.

Harvey Proctor, who fantasist Beech claimed raped him and murdered two children, said social media hosts had a duty to inform people that the Elm Guest House guest list is bogus. He also wants the police to pursue those behind the list.

Beech, jailed last month for 19 years for perverting the course of justice and fraud, claimed to have been raped by prominent people including the late former home secretary Leon Brittan at locations including the guest house in Barnes, south-west London, in the 1980s.

Mr Proctor has denied visiting the site, which had a bar, sauna, solarium and video facilities, and was advertised in gay publications.

Although the house was linked by police to the abuse of a 10-yearold boy by several men during a 1982 inquiry, there was never proof MPS or establishment figures were involved.

Owners Carol and Haroon Kasir were convicted of minor offences including running a disorderly house. In January 2013, before Beech made his allegations, a list purporting to name prominent visitors to the house during the 1980s, including Mr Proctor and Mr Brittan, appeared online.

It was investigated by the Met Police and discredited but is believed to have been the inspiration for some of Beech’s wild claims.

Mr Proctor said social media hosts should flag up that the list has been “proven to be fake” whenever it is re-posted on their sites, and remove it where possible.

The handwritten list of names also includes the late MPS Ron Brown, Charles Irving and Cyril Smith, who has been linked to several allegations of child abuse, and celebrities. It was drawn up by social worker Chris Fay, who said it was produced from evidence supplied by victims and owner Carol Kasir.

Mr Fay has said that he never intended it to be made public but it can still be found in blogs and on conspiracy theory sites.

Mr Proctor said he continues to receive death threats due to the list and Beech’s groundless claims.

He added: “The list is false and because it cannot be removed from everywhere on the internet, if it comes up on social media like Facebook or Twitter it should immediately be flagged up that it has been found to be false by the Met Police and the Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse. Only nutters and cranks on the internet believe the guest house nonsense.”

The inquiry is due to release its findings about claims of a coverup over historic child abuse within Westminster after hearing evidence about several cases, including the guest house.

In March, it heard that Met Police had carried out investigations into claims about Elm Guest House and the guest list. It heard Mr Fay was
