Braced for better dental deals
SMILEDIRECTCLUB, the US low-cost teeth whitening and straightening service, is to open a string of outlets across the UK.
Co-founder Alex Fenkell said that the firm is planning to open “Smile Shops” in major cities, as well as concessions within chemists operated bywell Pharmacy.
Smiledirectclub entered into the UK market at the start of the month, with shops in London, Manchester and Birmingham.
The company says that it can save people with mild to moderate teeth problems around 60 per cent on the cost of treatment. For £1,499, it will send customers a set of invisible braces for their teeth, compared to the dentist, which will charge around £4,800.
Scans of customers’ teeth are sent to dentists and if patients are suitable for treatment, they are sent a set of braces. It also offers free teeth whitening to customers in its shops.
