you together? I understand.” The 37-year-old Prince added: “In the West, we don’t really focus on the emotional support.what you’re all doing is amazing and you’ve got two ambassadors in us.”

Kate, who has focused her work on children’s early years, told them: “Some of the things I’ve been looking at back home are, how best do you support children and what do they need to have a successful life? One, it’s about quality relationships and two, the environment. What’s great is that you have both here.”

Sobia, 22, who arrived at SOS when she was seven, said: “My brother brought me here. My father died when I was two and no one was there for me emotionally. I got a family, love and care because of SOS.”

The couple joined children for an impromptu game of cricket and the Duke hit a soft ball on Kate’s neck. “William!” she laughed, feigning pain.william, in hysterics, told the children: “Ha! She’s my wife, so I can just about get away with it.”

After Kate had a brief turn at batting, the couple knelt as children tied friendship bracelets on their wrists. “Thank you so much for the bracelet,” said William. “I won’t take it off. My children will wonder why I’m wearing it.”

Later, they joined an art group, with William and Kate kneeling and painting. As the children told him about how the “house mothers” help with their homework, William told them: “I was never very good at homework.”

Kate said: “Do you like art? I’m drawing a palm tree. I’m really enjoying this – I do lots of drawing at home with my children.

“I have three – George, Charlotte and Louis – he’s a baby, he’s one and a half.”

After the children mentioned England, Kate said genuinely: “You will have to come and see us.” She asked them what the best thing was about SOS, and was told: “Family.”

The Duchess said: “I’m so glad we came back to get the full picture.” William, said of deciding to return: “I could feel that there was more to talk about.”
