Jamie’s home raided twice on same day
EX-ENGLAND footballer Jamie Redknapp has been left devastated after masked raiders broke into the grounds of his home twice on the same day.
Jamie, 46, who lives in the family home he once shared with his pop star ex-wife Louise, was away at the time. It is thought the burglars may have been monitoring his social media to track his whereabouts.
His housekeeper was inside the £6million gated property in Surrey when the gang made their first attempt on one of his cars.
She quickly realised what was going on and made a frantic 999 call to police. The raiders initially fled but returned in the early hours of the morning.
This time Jamie’s alarm system kicked in but the gang managed to break into another of his cars and stole a number of valuable items from the boot. The police arrived after being alerted by the alarm company at 5.14am on Tuesday, but the raiders had already fled.
Police conducted a search of the area and recovered some stolen items, but many are still missing.
A source said: “The thinking is that the gang had been monitoring Jamie’s social media and had seen that he was out of the country.
“Jamie has been targeted before and had already stepped up security.
“The property is surrounded by tall hedgerows and has large electronic gates at the entrance as well as a state-of-the-art alarm system.
“The kids were pretty shaken up by it all and were asking a lot of questions. Jamie and Louise reassured them both that everything would be OK, but obviously it’s a pretty harrowing thing for them to all go through.” Last night a spokesman for Surrey Police said that enquiries were still ongoing and was unable to give any details of what was stolen.
He said: “A number of items are believed to have been taken from the boot of the vehicle. An area search was undertaken by officers and some items were recovered.
“Two men were seen acting suspiciously in the area earlier in the morning and another vehicle was entered, but nothing was taken.”
Football pundit and former Liverpool star Jamie and Louise were divorced in 2017 but share custody of their sons Charley, 15, and 11-year-old Beau.
He stayed in the couple’s lavish family home while Louise bought a swanky pad around the corner.
The pair, who were married for 19 years, remain close as they co-parent their boys. The raids on their home have left them shaken.
