Warnings across the nation but it’s floody lovely for the birds
HEAVY rain caused flooding misery across Britain yesterday – leaving only the ducks and geese content.
Flood-hit Dan Fitzsimmons was greeted by this busy bird as he emerged from his home in Clyst St Mary, near Exeter.
Yellow weather warnings were in force across the country after rain started falling in the Southwest before moving north yesterday.
Nine flood warnings and 85 flood alerts were also in place throughout England, mainly in the Southwest and North East.the rainfall follows a month of severe flooding across the UK. Firefighters in Devon and Cornwall warned drivers to avoid flooded roads after a number of callouts overnight to stranded cars.
Two Met Office alerts saying more than three inches of rain could fall in Scotland were to remain in place until 9am today.
Forecaster Greg Dewhurst said the rain would temporarily ease today, adding: “It’s looking like a much brighter day for many.”
