Celebrities

- By Ed Gleave

I’M A Celebrity campmates have faced their fears in a stomachchurning series of tasks involving creepy crawlies.

They were last night challenged by hosts Ant and Dec to hold live critters in their mouths for at least 60 seconds each.

Reality TV star and ex-olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner, Call The Midwife actor Cliff Parisi, ex-footballer Ian Wright, Radio 1 presenter Adele Roberts and Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway all gave it a go.

And they weren’t phased – even after being presented with a scary scorpion, burrowing beetle and large cockroaches.

When Caitlyn held a yabby (freshwater crustacean) in her mouth her campmates said: “It’s another day to excel,” mimicking one of her own sayings. “Finally a bit of peace and quiet,” added ex-rugby player James Haskell.

The group’s bravery helped them score a maximum 12 stars – meaning they won plenty of food. It also meant all the celebrities were reunited and returned to Main Camp.

Some of them had been sent to the Budget Camp, which has no beds.

Tonight the camp will turn into Love Island. Bosses will recreate parts of the villa, including its fire pit, as part of a big-budget stunt for a live Bushtucker Trial.

A show insider said: “The celebrities of course won’t have to couple up, but they will definitely get a taste of being an Islander whilst also being a campmate at the same time!”

While the Love Island villa is known for being plush, the jungle version won’t be quite as luxurious.

The campmates will face three horror challenges there live on air.

Our source added: “The celebs taking part will have to do at least one of them. Each game is designed to be tougher than the one before.”

See the live trial in tonight’s show from 9pm on ITV.
