Dynamic duo serve up a radio Christmas treat
GLENDA Jackson and heartthrob Kit Harington will team up to serve a tender treat on the airwaves this Christmas.
Neil Gaiman’s Chivalry, a sharply-observed, sweet and funny short story, is being adapted for BBC Radio 4.
Double Oscar-winner Jackson, 83, and Game Of Thrones star Harington, 32, will voice roles in the drama.
The former Labour MP for Hampstead and Kilburn plays Mrs Whitaker, who discovers the Holy Grail in a charity shop.
She becomes the focal point of Sir Galaad’s (Harington) “most important quest” – and ropes him into doing some gardening and heavy lifting along the way.
Jackson also voices the narrator.
The actress recently announced her return to the screen for the first time in more than 25 years. She last made an appearance in
December 1992, and will star in a BBC One adaptation of the bestselling novel Elizabeth
Is Missing.
It combines a “gripping mystery” with a “tender yet unflinching exploration of one woman’s struggle with dementia”.
● Chivalry will be broadcast on
Christmas Day, 4pm to 4.30pm.
