Oh no it isn’t...

- By Caroline Lucas GREEN PARTY CANDIDATE BRIGHTON PAVILION

WHAT a brilliant idea, bringing a traditional story firmly up to date in the best traditions of pantomime.

The latest jokes, even the latest politics, woven into much-loved storylines is how this wonderful form of entertainment survives. Ridiculing politicians, even making them villains, is all part of the panto spirit.

When it comes to villains, what better choice than a big polluter whose actions are threatening life on our planet?

It’s a character everyone in the audience will relate to.

Having this man-eating giant made of plastic means the boos will be even louder. Best of all, we know Jack wins and saves his home and the planet.

So well done, Lighthouse – it’s a perfect choice for a 2019 panto.
