OB-LA-DI, Ob-la-danube! Saga’s newest river ship will sail a Fab Four themed six-night inaugural voyage after her launch on March 23, 2021.

Beatles will play on board Spirit Of The Rhine after she departs from Amsterdam and the 190 passengers will also get a private guided tour of the Beatles Museum in Alkmaar, Netherland­s.

The ship will echo the boutique styling of Saga Cruises’ new ocean vessels and most of the cabins will have a French balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Public areas will include a lounge with a bar, a library, a main restaurant and a smaller, reservatio­n-only restaurant with show cooking and a large sun deck with a hot tub and barbecue.

Passengers can stay in shape in the gym and keep in touch with free wi-fi and all cruises will be full-board including wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner plus free tea, coffee and water. Spirit Of The Rhine will spend her first season exploring the long and winding Rhine, Danube, Moselle and Main rivers and other themed itinerarie­s include Gilbert and Sullivan, Rembrandt and a mystery sailing. Guest celebritie­s on board for talks to passengers will range from cricket commentato­r Jonathan Agnew and broadcaste­r John Sergeant to TV gardener Charlie Dimmock and wine expert Jilly Goolden. Prices for the inaugural voyage start from £1,249 per person, including Saga’s VIP home pick up chauffeur service, porterage, optional travel insurance and a minimum of three excursions.
