Tax is wrong way to halt paving epidemic

-

WE ARE all poorer when the green spaces in our towns and cities are concreted over, and that includes front gardens.

But do we really need yet another tax?

Britain is already creaking under tax levels which are at a 30-year high and the idea that churches and scout halls should face a 1,300 per cent hike for creating extra parking spaces seems to be excessive.

Plans for a “rain tax” may sound good in a committee room but the real-life impact means that this levy should be resisted.
