Ciara is not just any old blast... stay safe inside

WE’RE braced for the windiest weather of the season so far.

Storm Ciara is not your average winter storm. It is fuelled by a faster-than-usual jet stream – winds miles up in the atmosphere – enhanced by a strong temperature contrast the other side of the Atlantic.

Unusually, the entire area of the UK will feel the impact of Ciara.

Expect several hours galeforce winds with damaging gusts peaking in excess of 80mph.

The challenging and disruptive conditions will be made worse by pouring rain and big battering waves lashing the coasts as it coincides with high tides.

Unless you’re at work, it’s a good day to stay indoors.
