● ULTRA-LUXURY “discovery yacht” Scenic Eclipse is heading into the mysterious waters of the high Russian Arctic in 2022.

The all-inclusive ship – which has a sightseeing helicopter and submarine – will sail from Tromsø in northern Norway for an 18-night voyage to Murmansk and then on to remote regions including Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya which are teeming with wildlife including whales and polar bears.

Following in the footsteps of 16th-century Dutch explorer William Barents, the 17,085 gross tonnage Eclipse will get rare permission to visit elemental places often limited to the Russian military.

Such luxury and remarkable destinations do not come cheap and the Franz Josef Adventure, departing on August 12, 2022, starts at £12,775 per person, including flights, transfers and gratuities (scenic.co.uk).
