ARMED with a shotgun, Karen Shaughnessy made full use of February 29. On the day tradition says women can propose, the mum-of-two took Brendan Alton clay pigeon shooting.

Karen, 41, put her gun down before she popped the question. The electrician gave his answer by shooting out a “Yes” banner.

The Shropshire couple, right, met in October, and Karen said she “wasn’t going to wait another four years”. Brendan, 37, said he “was very emotional, very shocked”.
