CARRIE Symonds is far from the first lady to fall for Boris Johnson.
He tied the knot with his first wife Allegra Mostyn-owen, the daughter of an Italian writer and Scottish art historian, whom he met at university, in 1987 when they were both 23.
The marriage lasted just six years, after which her mother claimed they had never been compatible, adding: “Boris is a man who needed someone very obedient and silent, who would be willing to stay in the background and create a soothing home life while giving him space to build a glittering career. “My daughter wasn’t that kind of person.”
Boris’s second wife was high-flying barrister Marina wheeler, who was reportedly pregnant with their first child Lara when they wed in May 1993, less than two weeks after his divorce from Allegra.
Marina, with whom he has four children, is the eldest daughter of BBC correspondent Sir Charles Wheeler and his Indian wife Dip Singh. She attended Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, after the European School in Brussels.
Their marriage was rocked by his infidelities – and they separated in 2018 after he was caught having an affair with Tory PR guru Carrie, prompting daughter Lara to call her father “selfish”.
During his second marriage he also strayed with society writer Petronella
Wyatt, whom he secretly romanced while he was editor at The Spectator magazine, where she was a columnist.
When their affair became public in 2004, Boris was forced to quit as shadow arts minister and party vice chairman.
At the same time, he was linked to journalist Anna Fazackerley but neither has ever publicly commented on a relationship.
Boris’s second marriage was blown apart in
2009 by a third affair with arts consultant Helen Macintyre. Marina took him back – but in 2013 it was revealed during a court battle that Boris had fathered a child during his fling with Helen.
He is not believed to have had any contact with his alleged daughter Stephanie, who is now seven. His children with Marina are Lara, 26, Milo, 25, Cassie, 23, and theodore, 21.
It emerged last year that he was pals with
Jennifer Arcuri, an American tech enterpeneur who joined him on overseas trade missions in
2014 and 2015.
Jennifer has refused to say whether she was in an intimate relationship with Boris, and has said he was just “a really good friend”.
