Ole excited by young braves

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER says Manchester United’s rebuilding strategy is bearing fruit as football enters a new world after Covid-19.

And the United boss admits he is more excited than ever about his young team, who are set to play Tottenham on Friday.

With Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford (below) fit again after long-term injury, Solskjaer insists United are looking more like the great teams produced by Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson.

“We’ve built young, exciting teams at this club since Sir Matt and Sir Alex because that’s what our fans want,’’ said Solskjaer.

“As coaches we want to see that too – and this team is looking more and more like a United team. But we can talk about potential all day, we need to get results.’’

Before football was shut down United were unbeaten in eleven games, winning eight and drawing three in all competitions – including two victories over Manchester City in the Premier League and EFL Cup.

Solskjaer added: “I feel very encouraged by the signs of the team and you can see the potential of this group.

“We have seen some of it in training. Now it’s up to everyone to get it going on the real competitive stage.”

United fans are excited about a midfield partnership of Pogba and £47million January signing Bruno Fernandes supplying fastpaced Rashford in attack.

But Solskjaer reckons United have a squad who are all capable of a starring role.

He said: “That’s for the fans to be excited about but I’m thinking about the whole group not just three players.

“Of course, good players playing together is important but I’m not going to jump on any bandwagon. We need to get up to speed straight away when we restart and get the team performances up to scratch quickly.”
