are automatically protected. People should still practise distancing and wash their hands.”

Labour also called for clarity over face coverings in England as latest figures from the Office for National Statistics suggested more than half of adults had worn a face mask while out.

However, Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford said he did not think the evidence on wearing face coverings was “decisive” yet.

The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan yesterday announced the capital was open “again for shopping, dinner, drinks and much, much more” He added: “If you’re going out this weekend, don’t forget your face covering.”

ATHERAPIST has told how illegal “backstreet beauticians” are secretly seeing customers.

Kathryn Lyon, speaking to formertory Cabinet minister Esther Mcvey, blamed illogical rules.

Under the coronavirus restrictions, barbers can trim beards but beauticians can’t shape eyebrows.

Kathryn, who is head of hair and beauty at Manchester College, said: “People are still going out and getting their treatments, getting their eyelashes done or their nails done, their massage.

“It’s becoming an underground industry that is totally unfair on the therapists that have put in so much investment in time and effort to get the industry back up and running.”

Roberta Dyer, a beautician from Knutsford, Cheshire, told the Blue Collar Conservative Conversation podcast she cried when she heard she could not reopen despite hairdressers being allowed to.

Ms Mcvey told her: “People don’t understand why they can’t reopen and neither do I.”
